Fire Severely Damages House In San Mateo County

Firefighters responded to a fire in two houses but one was so damaged it is now uninhabitable.

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Firefighters responded to a house fire Friday afternoon and were able to save one home but the other was too severely damaged for the residents to return home, according to to the South San Francisco Fire Department.

At 12: 19 p.m. on Friday, firefighters responded to the report of a full involved structure fire learn 50 Greenwood Dr., according to the SSFD.

Firefighters said when they arrived at the home they found a fire in the garage and on the first floor as well as the outside and front porch of the home next door.

Strong winds spread the fire quickly, firefighters said.

Crews were able to protect one of the homes and limited the damage to the outside and front porch but the garage and first floor of the other home was so damaged it is now uninhabitable, firefighters said.

The American Red Cross to providing temporary housing for the residents, according to the City of South San Francisco.

No injuries were reported, firefighters said.
