Police Shoot, Kill Armed Man In San Mateo County
The incident happened Monday on the 300 block of Arroyo Drive.
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO — South San Francisco police said one man is dead after a shootout with police Monday evening that left one neighbor on Arroyo Drive in the hospital.
At around 5:50 p.m., South San Francisco police issued an alert warning residents near the 300 Block of Arroyo Drive to stay out of the area due to an active incident.
Locals reported hearing the sounds of gunshots in the area near Arroyo Drive and the Kaiser Permanente South San Francisco Medical Center on the 1200 block of El Camino Real, police said.

Police responded to the area on Arroyo Drive after receiving reports of one person armed with a gun.
After officers arrived, they said a suspect began opening fire at them and into a home with at least one person inside.

Officers said they fired their weapons at the suspect and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not identified the suspect at this time but said he was around 60 years old, and was in possession of a handgun and a shotgun.
A neighbor in the area was injured and taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.
No officers were injured, police said.
