SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, CA—Patch reader Adrian Boone shared this photo of the sun rising over Alcatraz Island taken Sunday from the Crissy Field overlook in San Francisco.

According to the National Park Service, the overlook offers an amazing perspective on Crissy Field's revitalization in the last decade. It's also an opportunity to imagine times when Crissy Field was an active airfield, or when European powers first sailed to the region when it was inhabited by the Ohlone.

"From here, you can take in the San Francisco skyline, the Palace of Fine Arts, Alcatraz, Angel Island and the former Coast Guard station," the Park Service said. "Photos from the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 compared to images of modern Crissy Field reveal the dramatic change in the landscape a century later."
