• St. Helena wrestlers Herdell, Hardin place at Vintage tourney (modbee.com) — St. Helena High wrestlers kicked off their season with strong showings at the Jim Lanterman Classic, where seniors Adam Herdell and freshman Wallace Hardin each earned fourth-place medals. Several other Saints posted winning records, and coaches are expanding free youth wrestling programs to build a deeper pipeline, including efforts to grow the girls team for future seasons.
   

• California's most famous wine upset is now an opera — with a world premiere in Napa Valley (sfchronicle.com) — A new one-act opera about the famed 1976 “Judgement of Paris” wine tasting will premiere July 18 at Charles Krug Winery in St. Helena as part of Festival Napa Valley’s 20th season. The production brings a full orchestra, internationally known singers, and a playful blend of Greek mythology and Napa wine history, with previews planned in New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles beforehand.
