Scientists curb battery degradation by tuning nickel-rich cathodes (interestingengineering.com) — Stanford-affiliated scientists at SLAC have helped develop a new way to make nickel-rich lithium-ion battery cathodes last longer by preventing a damaging structural collapse. Their electrochemical “disordering” method keeps batteries stable without sacrificing capacity and could be integrated into large-scale manufacturing. The work, done with Korean collaborators, appears in Nature Energy and may influence future EVs and grid storage.
   

5. Hoover in 2025: Bringing Together Expertise and Leadership to Confront America's Challenges (hoover.org) — Stanford residents may be interested that the Hoover Institution on campus spent 2025 hosting high-profile national and international leaders, including Supreme Court justices and cabinet officials, for talks on policy, technology, and global security. The institution also expanded its media reach with widely viewed podcasts and videos, keeping Stanford at the center of national debates on issues from AI to foreign affairs.
