• Stockton shooting leaves man dead, woman injured, police say (kcra.com) — A weekend shooting at South Wilson Way and East Lafayette Street left a 24-year-old man dead and a 28-year-old woman hospitalized, Stockton police say. Officers found both victims around 1:20 a.m. Sunday, and the woman is expected to survive. This marks Stockton’s 36th homicide of the year, well below last year’s 54 but still deeply concerning for many neighbors.
   

• Immigrant truck drivers among thousands set to lose their licenses (kcra.com) — Stockton-based Diamond Trucking expects to lose a dozen immigrant drivers after California’s DMV moves to cancel about 17,000 commercial licenses tied to federal work permit changes on Jan. 6. The state is now scrambling to fix software errors and reissue some licenses, but local trucking leaders warn Stockton residents could see higher prices if driver shortages worsen.
   

• State Champs: Local teams shine in CIF State finals (abc10.com) — High school football teams from the Stockton area helped represent their communities in the CIF State Championships in Southern California, with several programs earning state titles. The roundup highlights big wins for Folsom, St. Mary’s, Sonora, Winters, and Calaveras, capping standout seasons for Northern California schools.
