101 Closure: What Was Thought Possibly a Bomb Was DJ Equipment

The freeway shut down Tuesday at Barham Boulevard as the bomb squad was called to the scene of an accident.

A possible bomb which prompted the closure of the Hollywood (101) Freeway near Universal Studio was disc jockey equipment, a Los Angeles Fire Department official said today.

A collision Tuesday involving an SUV and a sedan resulted in Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department bomb squads to be sent to examine a possible dangerous device inside one of the vehicles, authorities said.

The collision occurred on the southbound portion of the freeway at Barham Boulevard, just south of Universal City, authorities said.
