Bernstein's 'Trouble in Tahiti' Breezes into Town

The Pacific Opera Project brings its production of Leonard Bernstein's one-act opera Trouble in Tahiti to Saturday.

The group arrives in Studio City for two performances Saturday only, having completed two shows at the Friday.

Trouble in Tahiti, in typical Bernstein style, tracks the everyday realities of people seeking to attain the elusive American Dream.

Unlike West Side Story or On the Town, it's a little known, rarely performed piece from the Bernstein oeuvre. It's also only one act long, making it a short piece for a full evening's entertainment. To that end, the Pacific Opera Project are adding something special to the mix: before Tahiti commences, audiences will be treated to a revue of some of Bernstein's more popular Broadway tunes, including songs from West Side Story.
