Schools Closed Today for Cesar Chavez Day
City and state offices were closed Monday, schools and courts are closed Friday.
Different entities are closed at different times of the week to celebrate Cesar Chavez Day this week.
Los Angeles City offices are closed Monday, while Los Angeles Superior Court and public schools in the Los Angeles Unified School System are closed on Friday—an early holiday prior to Spring break.
Los Angeles County offices are encouraging employees to volunteer in a variety of activities. Public services will continue as scheduled.

The public schools are closed on Friday and Studio City's is also closed on Friday, while is closed all week for Spring break this week and next week, and will resume the Monday after Easter.
The Department of Motor Vehicles is open. Most state offices will be closed Friday. Federal offices and services, including the U.S. Postal Service, will be open.
Banks, Metro bus, subway, train and trash collection services will all operate on their regular schedules.
City animal shelters will be closed on Monday. Trash will be picked up on a regular schedule both days in Los Angeles, Burbank and Glendale.
Los Angeles County for the past 10 years has remembered Chávez with a week of service in which county employees are encouraged to volunteer in the spirit of Chávez's commitment to help others.
