STUDIO CITY, CA — A crash sent a car careening into a fire hydrant in Studio City Tuesday evening, creating a dangerous situation when water shot three stories into the air, forcefully hitting the power lines above.

The crash sheared a hydrant in the 4400 block of Coldwater Canyon Avenue near Moorpark Street before 9 p.m. Tuesday. The water shot up like a geyser, flooding the neighborhood until the Department of Water and Power could reach the scene. Despite the destruction, no one suffered major injuries, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
