'Dark Shadows' Box Office Pales to High-Flying 'Avengers'
Johnny Depp's reboot of the TV series places a distant second.
"The Avengers" is turning in the best second weekend in Hollywood history, according to estimates the Walt Disney Co. released today.
The mammoth blockbuster is on track to sell $103.2 million this weekend, according to figures disclosed to Hollywood.com. That would put its performance in the U.S. and Canada over the past 10 days at a record-shattering $373.2 million.
No other movie in Hollywood history has crossed the $300 million threshold in nine days, movie analyst Paul Dergerabedian said.

"Dark Shadows" opened in a distant second place, with a still- respectable $28.8 million sales estimate.
