Los Angeles, CA -  Mayor Villaraigosa will make a special appearance today at Berkeley Hall School, a nursery through 8th grade independent school founded in 1911, in honor of the school's 100th anniversary in Los Angeles.

A crowd of 750-1000 kids, parents, and alumni are expected to party like it's 1911 at the old-school style fair on the football field.

The Mayor will view the BHS Centennial Time Capsule exhibit with student guides and speak in front of a replica of the 1913 Berkeley Hall School House constructed just for the occasion.

History

Berkeley Hall was founded by sisters Leila and Mabel Cooper in 1911 based on a philosophy of "No Limits. No Labels. And Lots of Love."

The first campus opened on Western Avenue in 1911. As the school grew, it moved to 4th Street near West Adams Avenue, then to Swall Drive in Beverly Hills for nearly 40 years. In 1980, Berkeley Hall parents raised money to relocate to its present campus nestled on 66 acres off Mulholland and the 405.

There are 260 students enrolled from 49 different zip codes across Los Angeles. The school is noted for its commitment to diversity, character education, and a grounded and loving school community.

Admission and parking are free.
