Grass Fire Burns Alongside Freeway In Studio City
Firefighters used the right lane of U.S. State Route 101 to fight the fire, temporarily slowing traffic.

STUDIO CITY, CA — Drivers along the southbound U.S. State Route 101 may have noticed large plumes of smoke from a grass fire burning along the freeway in Studio City. The fire started Thursday evening around 6:02 p.m. in the area of Vineland Avenue and Moorpark Street, according to Los Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived to find less than a quarter acre of grass burning along the freeway. No structures were threatened, although traffic was impacted as officers needed to use the right lane to attack the blaze.
The fire was extinguished at 6:34 p.m., although traffic was delayed for another 30 minutes while crews worked to remove equipment and leave the operation setup.
