UPDATE: The Winning Numbers— Jackpot Will Hit More than $700 Mil, 7-Eleven Owner Predicts
People who never buy tickets are dipping in.

If hotcakes were fast sellers, like pies at down the block, then that's how fast they were selling at the corner of Tujunga Avenue and Ventura Boulevard at the .
"I'm predicting $700 million, I think it will hit $700 million, maybe more," said store manager Lasir Mahmod about the Mega Millions tickets he was selling at 11401 Ventura Blvd.

It's one of about a dozen places in Studio City to buy a ticket (for the entire list).
When he first opened shop, Mahmod knew the jackpot was already the largest in United States history, and it was going to get bigger. It went from $540 million and is now officially at $640 million as of 2:30 p.m. By the time the drawing occurs Friday night, it seems like his prediction will be in easy reach.

How many have come through the door?
"Hundreds," he muttered. "Hundreds!"
Hundreds the whole day?
"Hundreds an hour!" he said. "It will be even crazier this afternoon."
Many people coming in were plunking down a minimum of $20, some more than $100. Some only a buck or two.
One lady said, "I have never bought a lottery ticket before." The store manager had to explain to her how to fill out the ticket.
The longtime Studio City resident filled out her ticket and got her numbers. She wouldn't give her name.
"Oh, I can't let my husband know I spent money on a lottery ticket," she said. "He would be very mad, of course, unless I won."
