Neighborhood Council Rejects Adding Parking for Medical Staff

Every spot is necessary in Studio City.

Citing that every parking space in Studio City is a necessary one, the Studio City Neighborhood Council rejected an idea that would require additional spaces for medical personnel at medical offices.

The rationale was that medical service professionals usually have at least one staff member and more at a medical service office, so the required one parking space per 500 square feet of floor area is not sufficient.

Studio City has a few medical buildings where spots are already marked off specifically for doctors. The motion that came from the Government Affairs Committee asked that the Planning Department revise the parking requirement for all medical service professionals, including philanthropic institutions, to require one parking space per 200 square feet of floor area. “This revision would make the parking requirement consistent with the parking requirement for clinics and hospitals,” according to the proposal.
