STUDIO CITY, CA โ€” Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and weโ€™re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Victoria Brown who nominated Devin, 11th grade, of Studio City.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Van Nuys High School is a large diverse public school. When he returned from Covid last year he was determined to help his school and community. He joined student union, BSU, volleyball and became president of the Key Club. He devotes countless hours to organizing and leading numerous volunteer events such as gathering donations for the homeless or helping with marathons across Los Angeles. All while keeping a 3.4 and assistant coaching girls basketball after their coach quit. Recently he has been voted LT Governor with Key Club where leads and coordinates with 10 school Key clubs in our area.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

He is dedicated, supportive, community minded, thoughtful, respectful, kind and fearless for whatโ€™s right. And a vegetarian for all the right reasons.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Devin!
