The School Was Yvette Lee’s Second Home for Her Family

Read all the profiles of the all-star parents from Carpenter.

Yvette Lee is being awarded at ’s big awards show on Saturday along with her husband Jonathon Lee (see story here)  but as you can tell, she has made her own significant independent imprint on the school.

She has had a hand in every volunteer aspect of the school—and she’s always trying to explain to others what is going on, and what the parent volunteers are doing.

GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENTS:  “As PTA Membership co-chair, I tried to raise awareness of the role that PTA plays. That year, I helped push the membership drive to the maximum enrollment and since then we've been aiming to reach 100% membership in the school,” she says.

“Generally, I tried to get involved in every volunteer aspect at the school. This included being a room parent each year, serving in various positions on the PTA (treasurer and VP), being in charge of other fundraisers, including the Annual Giving tile project and Greeting Card fundraiser, and serving on a few committees.”

After six years of volunteering, their twins are moving on, and she knows it will be sad. “We met great families and we live around the corner. I'll miss the daily walk to school! I feel as though this was a second home for us, because it's so close and because we all spent a lot of time at the school.”

FAVORITE MEMORY? “The Kindergarten holiday performance! And the Kindergarten culmination was very emotional, beautiful and touching. Every time I remember it, it all comes back! All in all, we have great memories of the school, including days, evenings, and weekends.?

WISHES FOR THE FUTURE OF CARPENTER? “I hope that Carpenter will continue to be as great a school as it is today, and that it inspires kids to thrive and succeed, and provides a great education. I hope that Carpenter keeps the enrichment programs and is able to maintain the nice atmosphere for the kids.”

“The kids here don't want to leave at the end of the day!” says Lee.

Now how many schools can claim that?
