Kids Korral

New this year... Child care will be provided while you are working your shift, if you need it. Here's how it works.

When you sign up to volunteer online (or on paper), mark that you will want child care so we can get a head-count.

On Sunday April 29th at Spring Fling, whatever time you get to the festival, ALL volunteers will need to go to Volunteer Check-in at the Entry Booth (ticket, t-shirt & raffle sales) to sign in. Get your name tag and make sure you are on the list for child care while you're volunteering. Then go have fun with your child at the festival until just before your shift.

Five minutes before your shift, take your child to the Kid's Korral (enclosed hand-ball court) and sign him/her in with our fantastic Child Care Coordinator. Your child will be entertained in style... while you head over to your booth and have fun doing food sales, painting faces, working a booth or whatever you signed up for.

Right after your shift, go to the Kid's Korral to sign out your child... and continue to enjoy the festival with him/her.

If you have any questions about this new service, please feel free to contact Marcia Tillman atlet2b1@sbcglobal.net310-990-6050. SPRING FLING Donations

FIVE QUESTIONS The Yearbook Lady

VICKI NISHIMURA

A native Angeleno, I started teaching  at V.V. in February of 1968.  Though I retired in 2002 I'm still here teaching cursive handwriting, working in the library. and doing what I can. I've got a great husband, Tosh, two wonderful stepchildren, and three super grandsons.  Currently, I have two cats, but have raised indoor bunnies and hamsters from my classroom.  (And all along I really wanted a dog.)  My spare time is filled with movies, reading, computer Scrabble, and golf.  My retirement gift from staff and friends was a digital camera and it opened a whole new world to me.  It eventually led me to the V.V. yearbook, my most time-consuming and happiest endeavor.

Q1: Who are your heroes? VN:

My parents and my husband.  Mom volunteered in my classroom for 20 years and was my most fervent supporter.  My parents and husband stuck with me during some pretty intense illnesses and I will always treasure them for that.

Q2: What historical figures, living or dead, would you like to have dinner with?VN: Audrey Hepburn, Steve Jobs, the first woman president of the United States, Colin Powell, and the world's funniest comic (because I love to laugh).
Q3: What is your favorite word?VN: Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
Q4: What is your idea of perfect happiness?VN: Right here, right now. Q5: What is your motto?VN: If the world gives you lemons, make lemonade. CALENDAR HIGHLIGHTS
