Man Hid Gun On Baby In Stroller During Arrest: Police

FAIRFIELD, CA — A man is charged after apparently trying to hide a gun by placing it on top of a baby in a stroller when confronted by police in Fairfield, according to authorities.

Cristian Rodriguez, 28, was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats, carrying a concealed weapon, child endangerment and other related charges, police said.

Officers responded around 2 a.m. Saturday to an apartment building in the 800 block of East Tabor Avenue for a call about a man brandishing a gun at several people inside an apartment after an argument, according to police.

Rodriguez fled into the stairwell of a different building as officers arrived, police said.

Officers asked him to surrender while he was standing in front of a woman with a baby carriage, according to police, who said he was detained with a loaded magazine in his pocket. Officers found an unloaded gun placed on top of the baby, police said, adding the woman and baby were not hurt.

Rodriguez was booked into the county jail, according to police.
