Several Cars Collide, 6 Injured On Highway 12 In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, CA — At least six people suffered injuries in a crash involving several cars Tuesday on state Highway 12 in Fairfield, authorities said.

The traffic collision was reported at 11:39 a.m. Tuesday on eastbound SR-12 at the Chadbourne Road onramp. Both eastbound lanes and the freeway ramp were closed, according to the California Highway Patrol.

As many as six cars — five sedans and a pickup truck — were involved in the incident, CHP dispatchers reported.

A Sig-alert was in place for the roadway for some 45 minutes as emergency personnel responded.

"There is a total of 6 patients," the Fairfield Fire Department wrote on Twitter. "A mass casualty incident has been declared. At least one occupant is trapped."

At least two of the injured parties were taken to a hospital, according to the CHP.

The roadway was reopened by 1 p.m.
