Suisun City is a place like no other. And whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area or you’re just an occasional visitor, you know that Suisun City has its own special traditions and history that make it so unique.

A few things to know:

  • Suisun City was founded in 1850, making it one of the oldest cities in Solano County. It was originally a commercial and shipping center for the surrounding agricultural area.
  • Did you know that Suisun City is home to the Suisun Wildlife Center? This non-profit organization rescues and rehabilitates injured and orphaned animals, with a particular focus on birds of prey.
  • If you're interested in history, be sure to visit the Lawler House Gallery. This historic home, built in 1861, now serves as a gallery and cultural center, showcasing local art and history.
  • Suisun City is home to the Solano County Fairgrounds, which hosts the annual Solano County Fair every summer. The fair features live music, carnival rides, agricultural exhibits and more.
  • You might not expect to find a winery in Suisun City, but the Suisun Valley AVA is home to several vineyards and wineries. Stop by Mangels Vineyards for a tasting and enjoy views of the surrounding hills
  • For a unique dining experience, check out Cast Iron Grill and Bar. This restaurant is housed in a former fire station and features an eclectic menu of American and international cuisine.
  • If you're looking for a fun outdoor activity, head to Rush Ranch. This nature preserve covers over 2,000 acres and features hiking trails, picnic areas and a working ranch. Keep an eye out for the resident cows and goats!
  • The Suisun City Marina is a great spot for boating enthusiasts. It offers guest slips, fuel and a launching ramp, as well as waterfront dining options.
  • Suisun City is home to the Western Railway Museum, which features over 50 historic electric railway cars and other artifacts. It's a must-visit for train enthusiasts.
  • The Suisun City Historic Waterfront District is a charming area of the city that's home to shops, restaurants and art galleries. It's a great place to stroll and take in the sights.
  • If you're looking for a place to stay, consider the Hampton Inn & Suites Suisun City Waterfront. This hotel offers stunning views of the Suisun Bay and is just a short walk from the marina.
  • Suisun City is located just a short drive from the famous Napa Valley wine region. Consider taking a day trip to explore the vineyards and wineries.
