Firefighters in Fairfield were able to put out a grass fire that was caused by a truck giving off heat after it got stuck on a hill Friday afternoon, officials said.
Crews responded to a report of a grass fire on a hill just off of Redtop Road at about 2:55 p.m., fire officials said.
When crews arrived, a truck was engulfed in flames, and about an acre of grass on a hill was ablaze, according to fire officials.
The fire grew to consume four acres, fire officials said.
A person attempting to drive a Toyota 4Runner up a steep hill and his car got stuck, according to fire officials. While attempting to move the truck, friction generated heat and caused the fire, officials said.
Crews later were able to put out the fire. No injuries were reported. The 4Runner sustained about $5,000 in damage.
