Firefighters in Fairfield were able to put out a grass fire thatΒ was caused by a truck giving off heat after it got stuck on a hillΒ FridayΒ afternoon, officials said.
Crews responded to a report of a grass fire on a hill just off ofΒ Redtop Road at aboutΒ 2:55 p.m., fire officials said.Β
When crews arrived, a truck was engulfed in flames, and about anΒ acre of grass on a hill was ablaze, according to fire officials.Β
The fire grew to consume four acres, fire officials said.
A person attempting to drive a Toyota 4Runner up a steep hill andΒ his car got stuck, according to fire officials. While attempting to move theΒ truck, friction generated heat and caused the fire, officials said.Β
Crews later were able to put out the fire. No injuries wereΒ reported. The 4Runner sustained about $5,000 in damage.Β
