AGUANGA, CA —The Mindy Fire broke out east of Temecula Sunday, one of several burning across the Inland Empire over the weekend. The largest, the Wolf Fire, burned through a large swath south of Banning.

The Mindy Fire, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire, has burned through 109 acres east of Temecula and was 99 percent contained as of Wednesday morning, with all evacuation orders lifted.

The Mindy Fire was reported around 3:40 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Decoursey Road and Mindy Lane in Aguanga, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived to find 20 acres burned, with the fire still eating through brush at a moderate rate. The blaze grew to 72 acres by 5 p.m. and expanded to 109 acres by Wednesday morning.

About 100 personnel were assigned to the fire, including 19 engines, three water tenders, two bulldozers, four hand crews, and numerous firefighting air tankers, Cal Fire said.

An evacuation shelter was opened at Hemet High School.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
