SR-79 Roadwork Schedule For Thanksgiving Week: Plan For Delays

AGUANGA, CA – The California Department of Transportation is alerting the public that construction contractors will continue construction for the $6.3M guardrail and flashing beacons project at various locations on State Route 79 near Aguanga and Beaumont, with a slight pause over Thanksgiving week.

On Monday and Tuesday, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., Caltrans work will take place on SR-79 near Beaumont. This work will include electrical operations with alternating lane closures between Luis Estrada Rd and Gilman Springs Road. More work activities are still to come in that area, according to reports.

On the SR-79 near Aguanga, more work remains to be done. There will be no work activity on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

The guardrail project work in Beaumont and Aguanga will resume on Monday, Dec. 1, according to Caltrans.

Work depends on the contractor receiving the proper materials for each job function. These schedules can be changed or canceled at any time, according to a Caltrans spokesperson.

The guardrail installation project includes installing flashing beacons at two locations on SR-79 to improve driver alertness in that area.

Drivers in the area can expect flagging and temporary signal operations at various locations, both day and night, during this operation.

"The flagging may cause delays of up to 25 minutes of wait time per side," they said. "Plan accordingly and reduce your speed near work areas to protect crews and other drivers on the route." Signage will be placed ahead to indicate approaching roadway work.
