Brush Fires Near Temecula Off Hwy 79 Contained

Fires brokes out Monday afternoon scorching eight acres of brush along the side of the highway between Temecula and Vail Lake.

According to a Press Enterprise article:

“The fires broke out along the side of the highway between Temecula and Vail Lake about 12:38 p.m. Monday, May 25, but were contained by 3:49 p.m., according to a Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department news release.

Highway 79 between Anza and Pauba roads initially was closed in both directions, but the California Highway Patrol began using westbound lanes to escort vehicles through the area about 2:30 p.m., according to a California Highway Patrol incident log.

The highway reopened about 6 p.m., Caltrans reported.”
