Armed Suspect Arrested After Pursuit, Lockdown In Temecula

A brief sheriff's pursuit ended with a lockdown and the suspect's arrest Thursday afternoon

TEMECULA, CA — Sheriff’s deputies took a suspect into custody Thursday afternoon following a brief pursuit that ended in the 40000 block of Winchester Road, authorities said.

Deputies received information at about 1:10 p.m. regarding an armed subject in the area of Murrieta Hot Springs Road and Jefferson Avenue, Lieutenant Deirdre Vickers of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office told Patch.

Deputies located the suspect’s vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver failed to yield, prompting a pursuit, Vickers said.

The pursuit continued into the 40000 block of Winchester Road, where the suspect exited the vehicle and fled into a nearby business, Vickers said. The location was placed on a temporary lockdown while deputies conducted a search.

The suspect was located and taken into custody without incident. The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional details were immediately available.
