City Of Temecula, Schools Creating 'WiFi Gardens' For Students

TEMECULA, CA — The City of Temecula and the Temecula Valley Unified School District have teamed up to bring WiFi to remote learning students.

Three "WiFi Gardens" are coming to Rotary Park, Margarita Community Park and CRC Amphitheater from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. In a news release, the city said the WiFi hot spots are located in areas covered by its security surveillance system.

The city said it is also working with the school district to offer more student support, including offering vetted volunteer tutors.

Matt Rahn — a council member and Parks, Recreation, and Community Services subcommittee member — said the effort aims to help students overcome challenges posed by distance learning.

“The City was able to leverage existing infrastructure to create Temecula’s Wi-Fi Gardens to provide Internet access and reliable connectivity, which will supplement TVUSD’s efforts to provide students with online access and help address virtual challenges that may exist for some of our youth while distant learning in Temecula,” Rahn said.
