Coroner IDs Wildomar Man Killed In Temecula I-15 Crash That Left 4 People Dead

TEMECULA, CA — The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau has publicly identified one of the victims of a weekend crash on Interstate 15 in Temecula that killed four people.

Nicholas Callans, 36, of Wildomar was pronounced dead at Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Hospital in Wildomar about 35 minutes after the crash.

The crash was reported at 9:33 p.m. Saturday. A black BMW M4 piloted by a 25-year-old Moreno Valley man — who was driving erratically on northbound I-15 — veered to the left, went over the freeway's concrete median wall into southbound I-15 traffic lanes, and directly into the path of a white Nissan Sentra driven by Callans, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported about 1 mile north of Winchester Road.

The BMW driver was pulled from the fiery wreckage by good Samaritans. He was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries, the CHP reported. His identity was not released.

The BMW passengers, a 23-year-old woman in the front seat, and a teen boy and teen girl, ages 14 and 15, in the back seat, all died at the scene. The three were from Moreno Valley, according to the CHP. Their identities have not been released.

Callans' passenger, a 22-year-old man, was taken to Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Hospital in critical condition.
