'An Example Of A Great Leader': Temecula Hero

TEMECULA, CA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.

This submission comes from Damaris Barroso of San Diego, who nominated Claudia Contreras of Temecula:

What does the nominee do for work?:
Plant Manager

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
Our Plant Manager, Claudia Contreras, led a group of Scotts associates in our Temecula Operations to develop, fabricate and produce face-shields in less than a week. She redirected the production schedule to focus to fill the need of Personal Protective Equipment. Her hard efforts and hard work resulted in donations of face shields to our local community and afar.

The donations were made to City of Temecula (Administration/Police/Fire), Loma Linda Murrieta Hospital, Vineyard Ranch Nursing Home in Temecula, Whittier Police Department, Palomar Hospital in Escondido, Scripps Mercy in San Diego and Vista Community Clinic. The production of the much needed personal protective equipment continues to expand at our Temecula Facility.

Claudia is constantly looking for new ways to keep expanding to help others in need. We are so blessed to have a great leader and we are excited to see what is next. She continues to think of providing protection to the employees and frontline essential workers. Our team couldn't be more proud of her accomplishment and humanitarian efforts to bring the best out of Scotts, for this we nominate our Plant Manager as Patch Local Hero.
