Fiery Crash Into Old Town Temecula Home Leaves Residents Displaced

TEMECULA, CA — A vehicle that careened off Interstate 15 struck a two-story home in Old Town Temecula early Thursday morning, leaving the residence engulfed in fire, though no one was hurt, officials said.

The incident was reported at 2:48 a.m. in the 41800 block of 5th Street, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department. The sliver of residential area is sandwiched between Interstate 15 and Old Town businesses, just north of the Civic Center.

The residence became "fully involved with fire" but there were no injuries to any occupants in the vehicle or the home, the fire department reported.

Firefighters contained the blaze at 4:17 a.m. and the American Red Cross was requested to assist the displaced residents.

There was no immediate report of arrest(s). It's not clear what led to crash. The California Highway Patrol was investigating the incident.
