Former MTV VJ Jesse Camp Missing In Riverside County

Jesse Camp of "Wanna Be a VJ" fame was reported missing Thursday.

RIVERSIDE, CA -- Jesse Camp of "Wanna Be a VJ" fame was reported missing Thursday in Riverside County. Police said 38-year-old Camp, whose legal name is Josiah Camp, was reported missing by his sister.

Camp won the hearts of young Americans in the 1990s when he appeared on the MTV reality show, which catapulted his career in entertainment. He went on to record his first album, Jesse & 8th Street Kids, before appearing in a documentary.

Family members said they learned Camp was most recently in the city of Riverside but frequents the entire Inland Empire region. He may be staying at motels in the area, police said. Witnesses told police he was seen in Fontana as well.

In an Instagram post, Camp's sister, Marisha, asked the public for prayers.

“What he needs more than anything is kindness and love," she wrote. "Please keep him in your prayers. If you see him, please let him know that many, many people care… (He does not need to be the subject of tabloid journalism, making everything worse.)”

Police said there does not appear to be anything suspicious at this time regarding his disappearance other than his ceased contact with family and friends.

Anyone who knows of his whereabouts or sees Camp is urged to call police.
