French Valley Couple That Gutted Home Gets Jail

A former San Diego cop and his wife, who gutted their foreclosed home in French Valley, were sentenced to local jail time on Friday, according to published reports.

Acosta received five years probation, in addition to 270 days in jail, and was ordered to surrender himself Friday, court records indicate.
His wife, Monique, was ordered to begin her jail time Dec. 27, according to court records.

Her attorney also filed a motion to reduce the felony to a misdemeanor.
According to published reports, the Acostas moved out of their foreclosed home in 2010 but not before the couple ripped out fixtures from the home and threw the kitchen sink into the yard, the Press-Enterprise reported.
The home was vandalized to the tune of $100,000, the P-E reported.
