The new year has just begun, bringing with it a new chapter in the community’s educational landscape. Temecula Valley Charter School, the original charter school in Riverside County and the 63rd established charter in the state, will be marking the beginning of construction on a state-of-the-art facility that will offer innovative education to children in the Winchester area. This Groundbreaking Ceremony is a highly anticipated event that will gather officials, community members, school leaders, and students on the future site of the school campus on February 5 at 9am.
Temecula Valley Charter School was founded in 1994 by a group of parents who wanted something more for their children. Some of the underlying tenets were welcomed parent participation, hands-on learning, and an integrated Science and Arts curriculum in a small school/family-friendly setting. Today, TVCS continues to be focused on whole child development and academic rigor embedded within a holistic STEM Curriculum. It boasts an award-winning Performing and Visual Arts program as well, making it a high-quality educational option in the area.

The site of the new school, located at the corner of Washington and Yates in Winchester, will feature modern classrooms, technology-equipped spaces, and outdoor areas for recreation and community engagement. Dr. Charity Plaxton-Hennings, who serves as the school’s Superintendent, shares her enthusiasm for the school’s mission: “I am excited to embark on this journey which allows us to serve more students with our unique educational philosophy while still maintaining our family-centered focus and strong legacy of success.” The Groundbreaking Ceremony is a symbolic step toward building a brighter future for Temecula Valley Charter School students, families, and educators alike.
