How To Be A Lifeguard In Temecula: City Classes To Prepare For Summer Jobs
The City of Temecula is hosting a series of lifeguard training courses this fall.

TEMECULA, CA — So you want to be a lifeguard? The City of Temecula is offering a series of lifeguard training classes for individuals who wish to learn and potentially apply for a lifeguard position during the swimming season.
Aspiring candidates will need to sign up for a certification class, priced at $200, according to the city's website. A skills test will be given on the first day of class. All classes are held at the Community Recreation Center (CRC) -located at 30875 Rancho Vista Road in Temecula.

- Nov 1 - 3: CRC
- Nov 21 - 24: CRC
- Jan 2 - 4: CRC
- Jan 17 - 19: CRC
- Feb 13 - 15: CRC

Class offerings are tentative depending on class enrollment and instructor availability.
The American Red Cross Lifeguarding course combines interactive online modules (to be completed before the in-person sessions), engaging videos, group discussions, and hands-on practice to equip participants with essential lifeguarding skills, according to the city website.

"Training includes water rescue techniques, surveillance strategies, First Aid, CPR/AED, and other key competencies required to serve as a professional lifeguard" they say.
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be certified for a pool lifeguard position in California and will receive American Red Cross certifications in:
- Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED (valid 2 years)
- Administering Emergency Oxygen (valid 2 years)
- Bloodborne Pathogens Training (valid 1 year)
To pass the class and receive American Red Cross certifications, participants must:
- Attend and participate in all class sessions.
- Complete all online assignments.
- Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities.
- Demonstrate competency in all required final rescue skill scenarios.
- Pass all final written exams with a minimum grade of 80%.
Upon successful completion of the course, certifications will be emailed to the email address provided when you sign up for the class within 2 weeks.
