Injured Hiker Rescued Near Temecula
A Riverside County sheriff's helicopter, Rescue 9, was first to arrive at the scene and moved the victim to a nearby landing zone.
TEMECULA, CA — An injured hiker was rescued by a helicopter on a trail off Highway 79, authorities said.
The rescue was reported around 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Dripping Springs Trail, located off Highway 79 in an unincorporated area near Temecula, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
The hiker had to be extricated from an inaccessible area. A Riverside County sheriff's helicopter, Rescue 9, was first to arrive at the scene and moved the victim to a nearby landing zone. The hiker was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital.
