'A Leader On And Off The Field': Temecula Star Student Athlete

TEMECULA, CA— We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

This submission comes from one of Patch's very own local editors, Ashley Ludwig, who nominated her daughter Elizabeth "Ellie" of Temecula:

What sport does the star student athlete play?

Soccer

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Ellie earned top honors with her teammates at Temecula Valley High School in the winter of 2022 for winning CIF-SS and State championships.

She is a leader both on and off the field, having been selected by her peers as captain of her varsity soccer team for her senior season 2022/23.

Ellie is an award-winning goalkeeper: First Team All-League, 2022; All West Regional Team 2022; CIF-SS All-League Second Team in 2022; Second Team All-League 2021.

She has maintained over a 4.42 GPA throughout high school and is helping other students do the same— having developed a team-focused tutoring and study hall. Her goal is to raise the cumulative GPA of the entire team, together.

She has verbally committed to Westmont College as a goalkeeper for the women's soccer team starting in 2023.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

Ellie plays at a high level on both her high school and ECNL teams, and she is also a compassionate, intelligent young woman. She will continue her education by studying both Physics and Engineering at Westmont.
