TEMECULA, CA — At least one person died Sunday when one sedan collided into another sedan in an intersection in unincorporated French Valley north of Temecula.

The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 8:18 p.m. Sunday on Benton Road at Van Gaale Lane.

A witness told the CHP a white sedan ran a stop sign and hit a white Toyota Camry. The sedan sustained heavy front-end damage and possibly caught fire.

It appeared there were other injuries, according to the report.

The Riverside County coroner's office was summoned to the scene at 8:46 p.m. No identities were immediately made public.
