The Luiseno Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at the Assistance League of Temecula. The chapter will enjoy the festivities of the season with a special guest speaker, a delicious luncheon, and a holiday theme. As they have done in years past, members will be bringing gifts for the Toys for Tots program.
DAR meetings are open to any woman interested in tracing her heritage to ancestors of the American Revolution. The Luiseno Chapter Registrar will provide guidance and assistance to anyone wishing to apply for membership.
The Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890. Currently, there are approximately 165,000 members in the 3,000 chapters throughout the United States and 11 foreign countries. Any woman, 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to become a member. A patriot is described as someone who may have fought in the war, given arms, funds, medical or other supplies, taken the Oath of Allegiance, or in any way contributed to the cause.
