To find a collection site near you, use the DEA's search tool, which will be updated closer to the event. You can also find year-round disposal options at thousands of pharmacies, hospitals, and police departments.
When you go, collect all your unused, unwanted, or expired prescription medications for disposal.
The DEA recommends removing or blacking out any personal information on the bottle or container to protect your privacy. Medication should be in a container, such as the original bottle or a sealed bag.
In addition to pills and capsules, some sites accept other forms of medication and vaping devices, according to the DEA site. Check with your local collection site for specifics. Items typically not collected include illicit drugs, syringes, and sharps.
