New Mexican-Themed Brunch Spot Eyed For Temecula's Tower Plaza
The owners of a proven RivCo taco shop chain hope to expand to Temecula with an 'Abuelita' style Mexican brunch, spirits, and more.

TEMECULA, CA —A RivCo restaurateur is eyeing a vacancy at Temecula's Tower Plaza for a new take on breakfast: Quiero Brunch. This week, the Temecula Planning Commission proposed that the city council support a conditional use permit for the vacant property formerly owned by The Urban Island and other restaurants.
Quiero Brunch is proposed for the 2,287-square-foot space at 27423 Ynez Road, Suite 103, next door to "The Press Espresso" and "Oboba Tea" on the northwest side of the plaza. The location has housed two other restaurants near the recently remodeled Starbucks (formerly Banner Bank) and Del Taco. Quiero Brunch would be open Monday through Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and hopes to serve spirits and a full menu. There are no plans for live entertainment.
The owners of Quiero Brunch also run Michi Tacos in Lake Elsinore and Menifee; however, according to German Herrera, the spot proposed for Temecula is a wholly different concept. QuieroBrunch is a full-service restaurant specializing in Mexican culinary traditions, emphasizing breakfast and lunch options.

"Our mission is to provide an authentic Mexican dining experience that not only celebrates the rich culinary traditions of Mexico but also immerses our guests in the cultural significance of the food and beverages we serve," they said in their statement of operations filed in October of last year. Describing what they plan, Herrera had this to say:
"In Mexico, the experience of dining is deeply intertwined with the enjoyment of a few traditional alcoholic beverages. We believe that offering a full liquor menu is essential to delivering a genuine and memorable experience for our patrons. For instance, margaritas, which are among the most beloved cocktails in Mexico, perfectly complement the vibrant flavors of our lunch dishes. Similarly, pajarete—a nostalgic morning drink made with coffee, milk, and liquor holds a special place in the hearts of those who grew up on ranches across Mexico, and we aim to evoke those cherished memories for our guests. Additionally, micheladas, a refreshing beer cocktail infused with lime and spices, are a staple in Mexican culture and pair wonderfully with our diverse menu.

"While we recognize that liquor sales will not constitute the majority of our overall revenue, we firmly believe that the thoughtful inclusion of these beverages will enhance the overall dining experience. Each drink is carefully crafted to complement our dishes, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the flavors and traditions of Mexico. By offering these beverages, we aim to transport our customers to a sunny morning in Mexico, creating a unique and enriching experience that encourages them to return time and again."
Restaurant owners plan to create nearly 80 jobs and hire locals, providing opportunities for our community. With ample parking available, they said we aim to ensure a convenient dining experience for our guests.
"Our menu will feature a variety of breakfast and lunch items that will transport you to a morning breakfast at Abuelita's house (Grandma's house), including freshly brewed coffee, pozole, pancakes, and delicious banana milkshakes. A crowd favorite will be our chilaquiles, offered with different sauces such as green, red, chipotle, and creamy white," they said.
Breakfast favorites would also be served with a Mexican twist like tres leches pancakes, churro waffles, and mazapán and dulce de leche lattes.
"With our wide range of food options, we guarantee that there will be something for everyone. We do not plan to have any live entertainment, allowing guests to enjoy their meals in a relaxed atmosphere," Herrera wrote. "We are committed to responsible service and ensuring our establishment aligns with the community's values. We will implement thorough training for our staff to uphold the highest standards of service and safety. In conclusion, granting us a full liquor license will not only support our restaurant's authenticity but will also enrich the cultural tapestry of our community. We appreciate your consideration of our request and look forward to the opportunity to contribute to the local dining scene in a meaningful way."
