Sports run deep in Temecula, and Chaparral High School has long been at the heart of it. It’s no surprise some standout talent once wore the Puma uniform. Today we're celebrating five unforgettable athletes from Chaparral High School who made a name for themselves well beyond the hometown field.


1. Allen Craig — All-Star & MLB World Champion (St. Louis Cardinals)

Drafted in the eighth round of the 2006 draft by the St. Louis Cardinals, Craig was a member of the championship team in 2011 and made his sole All-Star appearance in 2013. (Source: MLB.com)


2. Justin Dedich — NFL Offensive Lineman (Los Angeles Rams)

A recent Pumas graduate, Dedich signed with the Los Angeles Rams in 2024 as an unrestricted free agent and appeared in 13 games while starting in three contests. He is currently on the roster. (Source: TheDraftNetwork.com)

3. Sarah Hammer — Four-Time Olympian Silver Medalist (Cyclist)

Hammer’s cycling career is well decorated, medaling in several competitions during her career. Career highlights include being a three-time Olympian and a four-time silver medalist (2008, 2012, 2016). (Source: TeamUSA.com)


4. Robert Brantly — MLB Catcher (Miami Marlins)

Drafted in the third round of the 2010 draft by the Detroit Tigers, Brantly has played for six different clubs in his career and is currently on his second stint with the Marlins. (MLB.com)

5. Braylon Doughty — MLB Pitcher (Cleveland Guardians)
