RivCo Couple Wins $4M Jackpot At Pechanga Casino Resort

TEMECULA, CA — A Riverside County couple is celebrating after they won a $4.1 million jackpot early Sunday morning at Pechanga Resort Casino.

Despite the windfall, the Eastvale couple, who were not named, said they would not quit their jobs.

The husband told Pechanga staff they would use the money to help their children "get a little further in life," by helping them pay off student loans and car payments.

The couple decided Saturday that they would stay the night at the casino for a staycation and to make use of some "EasyPlay" credits they had available at Pechanga, according to a release from the casino.

After eating dinner, the pair played some games and then talked about heading back to their room to get some sleep. On the way, the wife told her husband he should play a machine called IGT’s Megabucks MegaVault for a few minutes.

According to the casino, he told staff that he put in $100 into the machine, playing spins costing $3 to $5 each. Then he decided to bet bigger, playing two $10 spins at the maximum bet level. On the second spin, he hit the $4,178,889.94 Megabucks jackpot.

“I didn’t know we won at first. I thought I hit $230, but then the machine glass popped up the words saying, ‘call attendant,’ so I knew it had to be something bigger,” said the winner. “It hasn’t hit home yet. She was sitting right there with me. I thank God she [his wife] told me to play it.”

The pair, who had celebrated their wedding anniversary last month, said they have been coming to the casino for staycations since 2017, when they won $17,000 on a slot machine.

Just one month before, someone hit a $1,232,300.19 jackpot playing a Dragon Link slot machine at the casino.
