RivCo Firefighters Respond To Wildfire In Temecula

Crews were making "significant progress" on the blaze, which ignited just after noon.

TEMECULA, CA — A wildfire that ignited in Temecula on Wednesday afternoon , roughly a mile northwest of Vail Lake, scorched one acre before firefighters began to gain some control over the blaze, authorities said.

Just before 1 p.m., a spokesperson from Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department told Patch that the fire was moving with a slow rate of spread and that crews were making "significant progress."

The fire, which broke out around 12:19 p.m. in the 34300 block of Madera de Playa Drive, initially threatened nearby homes, fire officials said. But shortly after, firefighters said that the threat was no longer present as crews made progress to quell the blaze.
