RivCo Reports 17 New Coronavirus Deaths, 1,000 New Cases
Riverside County reported more than 1,000 new coronavirus cases and an additional 17 virus-related deaths, according to the latest data.
RIVERSIDE COUNTY -- Riverside County is reporting more than 1,000 new coronavirus cases and an additional 17 virus-related deaths, according to the latest data.
Numbers released Wed., Sept. 8 showed total COVID hospitalizations countywide at 617, up four from Tuesday, while the number of intensive care patients being treated for the virus increased to 132, up eight from Tuesday, according to the Riverside University Health System.
The aggregate number of COVID cases recorded in Riverside County since the pandemic began in March 2020 stood at 341,760, an increase of 1,060 from Tuesday.

A total of 4,788 deaths from virus-related complications have been recorded in the last 18 months in the county. The fatalities are trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates, according to health officials.
The number of known active virus cases in the county was 8,633 on Wednesday, up 1,010 from Tuesday. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total -- 341,760 -- according to the county Executive Office. Verified patient recoveries countywide totaled 328,339.
