Riverside Treasurer-Tax Collector To Retire, Replacement Named
The county's current Assistant Treasurer-Tax Collector will take the helm on Sept. 24.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Riverside County’s Treasurer-Tax Collector, Jon Christensen, is set to retire this fall. He’ll be replaced by current Assistant Treasurer-Tax Collector Matthew Jennings.
In a release Thursday, Riverside County said Christensen is retiring on Sept. 23 after an 18-year career with the department.
During his career, Christensen helped overhaul the county’s property tax mainframe system, according to the release.

“I am thankful for the time I have been able to serve the County of Riverside and look forward to this next chapter,” Christensen said in a statement. “Matthew has demonstrated the leadership to continue serving the residents and brings a wealth of experience to this role.”
According to Riverside County, Jennings is a third-generation resident of the county and has worked for the since 1994, when he began as an office assistant in the public services division.
In September, Jennings will become the county’s first black Treasurer-Tax Collector.

“This moment is absolutely humbling, and I cherish the opportunity to continue serving,” Jennings said in a statement. “I look forward to being a strong steward of our investments and continuing to serve our residents.”
