Some Of America's Riskiest Drivers Are In Murrieta And Temecula: Ranking
The Murrieta-Temecula-Menifee area was ranked 98th out of 100 urban areas for safest drivers by Allstate.
TEMECULA, CA — Some of the riskiest drivers in America are on the roads of Murrieta and Temecula, according to a recent ranking from Allstate.
In its 16th Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report, the company used anonymized connected driving data from its analytics partner, Arity, which powers optional safety features on the Allstate app, to rank 100 U.S. urban areas by speeding, hard braking and phone handling.
The Murrieta-Temecula-Menifee area was 98th on the safest drivers ranking, coming in 99th for hard braking, 71st for high-speed travel and 56th for phone handling. Fresno was 97th and Baton Rouge was 99th, with Albuquerque ranked 100th as the area with the riskiest drivers.

Other Southern California areas didn’t fare much better than Murrieta-Temecula-Menifee, with Riverside-San Bernardino ranking 86th, Los Angeles ranking 74th and San Diego ranking 70th.
At the top of the list, Allstate found the safest drivers were in Honolulu, followed by Minneapolis and Seattle in second- and third-place, respectively.

More generally, the ranking revealed West Coast drivers tend to handle their phones less, Midwest drivers hard brake the least, and drivers in the Northeast and Pacific Northwest travel at safer speeds.
