TEMECULA, CA — The CHP, Temecula Area, is hosting a Start Smart class on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Temecula City Hall, located at 41000 Main Street. The class is FREE, and parents are encouraged to attend. Seating is limited. Start Smart is designed to help newly licensed or soon-to-be licensed teenage drivers (ages 15-19) become more aware of the responsibilities that accompany the privilege of being a licensed California driver.

During the class, a CHP officer will speak directly to the newly licensed driver and their parents/guardians in candid conversations, discussing topics such as collision avoidance techniques, as well as collision-causing elements like excessive speed, DUI, and distracted driving.

Start Smart educates teens and parents about the responsibilities they face and teaches them the necessary precautions to stay safe, including the importance of wearing seatbelts, safe passenger practices in the vehicle, and what to do in the event of a collision.
