Shooting Rampage Along SoCal Freeway Injures At least 3
A suspect wanted for a shooting in Nevada was arrested by police after he fled and began shooting at people on a Southland freeway.
CALIFORNIA — A suspect who fled from Nevada into Southern California while shooting at I-15 freeway motorists and other victims was arrested on Tuesday, authorities said.
Antonio Chaidez, 35, of Las Vegas, is accused of shooting a man while he was sleeping in his car in Baker, an unincorporated area of San Bernardino County, just after 2:36 a.m., according to the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department.
A short time after deputies responded to that shooting, the department received a call around 2:46 a.m. that Chaidez, who was driving a black truck, had fired multiple rounds into a Chevron gas station through a back door, striking the clerk.

The California Highway Patrol spotted Chaidez's vehicle as it was traveling southbound on the 15 Freeway near Afton Road and a pursuit began. Deputies from the Barstow Sheriff's station joined to help the CHP in getting Chaidez to pull over off of Harvard Road.
Chaidez was then taken into custody without further incident the sheriff's department said.
"A suspect shot a victim in Nevada and fled south into California," Mara Rodriguez, public information officer for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department told Patch. "Additional victims were shot along the 15 freeway and throughout Baker. Deputies and CHP Units located the suspect vehicle, and a pursuit ensued. The suspect eventually stopped, and he was taken into custody."
KTLA also spoke with a 76 gas station clerk in on Baker Boulevard who reported seeing a man with a large handgun outfitted with a possible silencer. He told KTLA the man wasn't in a rush and appeared to be searching for someone.
