Teen Arrested for Attempting to Break Into Murrieta Home with Homeowner Inside

Officers learned the suspect was also casing other homes in the area.

On May 13, 2015 at 9:10 a.m. officers from the Murrieta Police Department responded to the area of Jackson Avenue and Englemann Oak Street reference a possible burglary in progress. A homeowner in the area called to report a male was in her backyard, had just broken her window with a rock and was possibly preparing to make entry into her home. It was discovered later, the male subject, was likely under the impression no one was home and he was preparing to burglarize the location.

The subject eventually realized the homeowner was inside the residence and fled on foot before making entry into the home. Officers arrived in the area and attempted to make contact with the subject which resulted in a foot pursuit. A containment was set by officers and the suspect was located and arrested without incident. During the preliminary investigation, officers learned the subject was also casing other homes in the area before attempting to make entry into the home on Englemann Oak.

The subject, later identified as 19-year-old Aldo Vasquez, of Menifee was arrested for attempt burglary and booked at the Southwest Jail.
