Temecula City Council Lauds Great Oak High School's Cross Country Team
The Great Oak Cross Country team won a D1 state championship, placed 6th in the US and will be recognized at Tuesday's City Council Meeting.
TEMECULA, CA — Great Oak High School Cross Country athletes and their families will be on hand at Tuesday's City Council Meeting to receive an acknowledgment for their state championship.
The City Council session at Temecula City Hall opens to the public at 6 p.m. The sessions are televised live on Spectrum Channel 3 and Frontier FiOS TV Channel 3 and Rebroadcast on the following Tuesday.
The runners and coach Tammy Draughon will be given certificates of recognition for winning the D1 California state championship.

"The Great Oak High School boys cross country team just won its seventh state championship," councilmember James Stewart reported over social media in December. "The girls came in 5th in the state."
According to Coach Draughon, the boys went on to race in Portland for the national championship, placing sixth in the country.

Stewart said that the Great Oak High School cross country program had been a powerhouse in cross country almost since the school opened.
"Congrats, Great Oak CC boys and girls team," Stewart said. "You're amazing! Your city is so proud of you."
